All Saints' Blackwell Pre-School
Useful Information
- All Saints' Blackwell Pre-School is based in All Saints' Millennium
Centre on Ravensdale Road in Darlington.
- The group is a church organisation for which the All Saints' and Salutation P.C.C.
(Parochial Church Council) is responsible. The executive committee has been established by
the P.C.C. to deal with the running of the group; this is chaired by the vicar and includes
members of the P.C.C., senior staff and parent representatives.
- We accept children from 2 years old until they go to school.
- We operate a waiting list so it is advisable to contact the
group as soon as possible.
- The Pre-School is open from 9.30 to 12 noon Monday to
Friday, term time only.
- The Garden rooms, the main hall and outdoor play areas are used in a
variety of combinations through out the sessions.
- Once a month on the third Friday the Pre-School joins with the parent
and toddler group for a short, child appropriate service called Play
and Praise. This is held in church where the children enjoy singing,
participating in a story and prayers. All parents and carers are invited
to join the children and staff in this service, everyone is very welcome.
- Each session costs £8.00. Once your child reaches the term after their
third birthday they will be eligible for Darlington Council's Education
grant, enabling each child to receive 5 free sessions a week. Please see
the group's manager for further details of this. If your child attends more
than one setting, the grant will be divided between the two provisions.

- The group's co-managers are Mrs Carole Ferguson and Mrs Jocelyn Atherton,
both trained to a childcare qualification of level 3 and both can be contacted
on tel. 07596166259 (am only).
- The Pre-School is registered with OFSTED and cares for a maximum of 44
children each session, 26 in the main hall and 18 in the garden rooms.
- Other outside agencies in contact with the Pre-School are the Pre-School
Learning Alliance (P.S.L.A) and the Darlington Council's Early Years
Development and Childcare Partnership (E.Y.D.C.P).
- The adult to child ration for the group is as recommended by OFSTED,
1:4 for 2-3 year olds and 1:8 for 3-5 year olds.
- The Pre-School's daily routine is split up so the children have a time
for free play, a healthy snack, a quiet time and group activities.
- The Pre-School follows the guidance of the Early Years Foundation
Stage (E.Y.F.S).
- Our aim is for children to develop to their full potential, at their own pace,
whilst of course, always having fun.

Parents are welcome at any time in the setting. We would like to feel that
both you and your child have a sense of belonging and that there is always
time to discuss your child's progress with the Pre-School staff.
Each child is allocated a key worker when starting at All Saints' Blackwell
Pre-School and it is the key worker who is responsible for completing
developmental records for your child and keeping you informed of your child's progress.
Monthly newsletters and home link sheets are regularly available, please
help yourself to any information available and ensure you receive an up to date
newsletter informing you of what is happening for the month ahead.
Please feel free to call into the Pre-School at any time to discuss any
issue regarding your child, whether it is putting your child's name on the
waiting list, enquiring when your child will be able to start the Pre-School,
changing days your child attends at the Pre-School or any general information,
relating to the Pre-School. The staff will always welcome you and your child.
